Chapters 6-10 Summary

In chapter six, Dismas Hardy heads to the scene of the crime after viewing Eddie's body at Ging's Mortuary. At the Cruz Building Hardy talks to Jeffrey, an employee, and then Arturo Cruz, the owner of the Cruz Publishing Company. Cruz believes Hardy to be a police officer continuing the investigation and Diz does nothing to dissuade him. Cruz answers Hardy's questions, but something about his answers does not ring true, and Hardy senses the man is lying. Afterward, Hardy meets with an antagonistic Carl Griffin who is not happy being questioned by a civilian, regardless of the reason. Hardy leaves, knowing that Griffin is not going to willingly help him or Frannie's interests.
