In Chapter 19, Stone speaks briefly to Cantor and learns that few people on the Canary Islands remember the Mannings, but one couple does remember them fighting about navigational plans the night before they left for Puerto Rico. Cantor has also learned that the Mannings' rubber dinghy was stolen and Paul Manning made a big deal about ordering a new one from Barcelona.
