Chapters 5-6 Summary

Chapter 5. Sorcha settles down in the area the Lady in the Forest told her about, using the cave for shelter, the dog, Linn, her only companion. Sorcha finds a supply of starwort nearby and quickly begins her task.

Winter turns to summer, and Sorcha soon realizes it is nearing midsummer, Mean Sumhraidh. Sorcha takes a day off and walks close to the village that is not far from her cave. Sorcha is spotted by a simple-minded boy who thinks she is a fairy.

That night, Sorcha is waiting near the river when her brothers suddenly appear. The boys are upset when Sorcha will not speak to them, but Conor figures out the reason for this and explains it to the boys. Conor is also able to figure out Sorcha's task and the reasons for it, reassuring the others that Sorcha is...
