Summary

In Chapter 10, Amanda and Jason decide to write down details about the type of world in which they want to enter before they open the door, and then focus their full energy on the world they hope to discover. On their first try, they arrive in a slightly futuristic version of Chicago. Although Amanda thinks the version of Chicago is what was in her head, Jason is disappointed because it is not his home.

Back in the corridor, Jason tries to determine what he should write in order to find himself at his home. They hear a noise and see a man covered in mud coming down the corridor. When the man gets closer, Jason realizes it is a version of himself. The man seems shell-shocked and emptied out.
