Pages 256-304 Summary

Vic returns home and finds the sheriff, a state policeman, and a man from the DA's office waiting for him. The DA man, Andy Masen, focuses on Donna's missing car. Masen wonders why Kemp would take the Pinto if he kidnapped Donna and Tad, since he had a vehicle of his own. Vic tells him about the conversation he had with Donna about repairing the car. Masen calls the dealership in Paris, but they do not have the car. Vic tells him about Camber's, but Masen dismisses the idea that Donna left her car there because there would be a rental car or she would have gotten a ride home. Masen cannot imagine anything could have kept Donna at Camber's. Masen sends Vic to get some sleep, promising to wake him if anything happens.
