Chapter 5 Summary

When Killashandra and the others land on Ballybran, they are quickly taken into the main guild building and assigned to rooms in the recruit hall. Killashandra, Rimbol, and Shillawn take rooms next to one another while Carigana takes a room as far from the others as possible. After a long bath, Killashandra meets the others in the recruit lounge. Their instructor, Tukolom, describes to them what they should expect in ten days or so when the symbiont fever begins. Their rooms are designed to monitor their health and Tukolom assures them that they will receive adequate medical care the moment symptoms appear. In the meantime, they are to attend lectures on the history of the planet, the geography of the planet, learn to pilot the various vehicles used on the planet, and help out the support staff wherever necessary.
