John opens Chapter 43 by announcing the good news: Scooter is back at home.

Chapter 44 introduces the Penn Relays track event in more detail. The track coach shows footage from Penn Relay events of the past to John and his teammates. The middle school team will race on Friday, and they have never won in sixteen years of attending the relays.
