Summary

In Chapter 17, Staying Grounded, Simone described a funny experience she had during the awards ceremony of the 2015 word championships—a bee flew into her flowers. She tried to shake it out of the bouquet and jumped off of the podium when it flew towards her face. Then the bee flew towards Kyla Ross, who had won third. Kyla placed her bouquet on the edge of the podium and she and the silver medalist climbed onto Simone’s podium for pictures. The video of Simone trying to escape the bee quickly went viral. Her mother complained that she had ruined a prideful and emotional moment with her antics, but her brother Ron said she was just being typical bubbly Simone.
