Chapter I-V Summary

Call to Arms by W.E.B Griffin is a World War II novel that takes places in the days and months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941. It follows the military career of Second Lieutenant Kenneth McCoy as he is given the tough task of finding the truth about Colonel Carlson, who has been secretly accused of being a communist, crazy, or both.

Chapter I

In chapter one, sub-chapter one, McCoy was wounded in the Shanghai, China, and that he is returning to the states on a Catalina plane. During the take off the wounds he received in China are once again causing him problems. He will not allow the pilot to do more than replace his bandages and take him on into the states to carry out his original orders.
