Coraline Jones

Coraline Jones is the heroine of the novel. She is a young girl, probably a preteen. She’s old enough to know how to take care of herself for the day that her parents are missing, but young enough that she is scared and misses her parents. Coraline is very intelligent for her age. It is through her experience with the other mother, an evil creature whom she meets when she goes through a bricked up door in her new flat, that she realizes how brave she really is. During her experience, Coraline additionally realizes how much her parents really love her even though they may often be distracted by work, cook food for her that she doesn’t like and won’t let her buy Day-glo gloves.
