Summary

The following day, the rain has stopped and Coraline is able to go out exploring again. A thick fog covers everything. Outside, she meets Miss Spink walking her dogs. Next, she sees Miss Forcible who asks if she’s seen Miss Spink. The old man from upstairs also greets Coraline. He tells her that his mice have given him a message for her: they have said for her to not go through the door.

Inside, Coraline asks her mother what she should do to entertain herself. Her mother suggests she draw. Coraline tries to draw the mist. She checks the old door in the drawing room and finds it is locked again. In her father’s study, her father tells her to go away before she’s even said anything to him. He suggests she go downstairs and bother Miss Spink and Miss Forcible...
