Summary

When Frances and Bobbi arrived in France in Chapter 12, Melissa, Nick, and the couple's mutual friends, Evelyn and Derek, were already at the vacation house. Nick admitted to the company that he had recently had pneumonia. Frances was silent. Bobbi charmed the company, especially Melissa. After asking Bobbi which airport she had used, Derek said Nick had almost had an affair with a stewardess, or perhaps a Starbucks barista, at the Dublin airport. At the company's urging, Nick told the whole story: The woman, Louisa, invited Nick to have a cup of coffee with her while he waited for his flight. When she expressed romantic interest, he told her he was married. Derek said the woman was young. His wife, Evelyn, said she may have been attracted to married men, though Nick rejected her interpretation. Because the woman in Nick's story was attractive...
