Bordeaux, France

This is a city in France. It has been around for well over five centuries and has often done well as such. It has an important role in the book because it is the home town of Michel Montaigne. The family fortune was nestled there, and it is also the case that the author received his title and fortune there. He also served as the Mayor of Bordeaux.
