Letters 86-90 Summary

Nettie writes that Tashi has run away to the mbeles, and they are all worried about her. She tells of how the Olinka are dying off, and she worries about their health. However, Samuel thinks that they will be all right. Nettie tells Celie about how different God is to them now. He is no longer a person or figure, but that he encompasses everything and lives everywhere; he is internal. Nettie tells Celie that there is little to do there now, and she worries about the shock the children will face when returning to America. She is also concerned about how poor they will be when they return. In her second letter she tells Celie that Adam has run off, most likely to find Tashi.

Celie writes that she cannot understand what Shug.....
