Letters 80-85 Summary

Nettie writes to Celie telling her just how bad things have become in Africa. The Olinka have lost everything, and many of them have left to join another tribe in the jungle. Nettie, Samuel, and the kids head to England with the last of their money to appeal to the Missionary Society, but to no avail. However, while in England, Nettie and Samuel realize that they are in love with one another and they marry in a small church ceremony. Before they marry, though, they tell the children the truth about Celie, and they are very understanding.

Nettie also tells Celie that Adam has been cranky because he misses Tashi. They had a big fight before they left Africa, as Tashi has decided to go through the coming of age ceremony that entails scarring.....
