Prufrock is a man in the the later years of life. He is a decent, nondescript sort of man, and it's apparent he is past the vivacity of youth. He is thinner and losing his hair and he feels self-conscious about this. He is not the virile man he was in his youth when he was a pursuer of women. Now he feels he has no charms with which to interest a woman. He spends his days in repetitive monotony, and as he says, he measures his life in coffee spoons. He is a man of indecision, and this is a trait exhibited throughout his life. He never took the risks and chances he wished he did - whether in career or love. He yearns.....
