Chapters 33-36 Summary

Chapter 33. As they walk, Mother Summer and Dresden discuss what might happen if he disobeys Mab or kills her, and his possible fates. She suggests he can resist and retain his free will, but won't explain how. She transforms his clothes into faerie armor and takes him to the edge of Faerie, to the Outer Gates, where the vast armies of Winter are fighting an epic war against the Outsiders. It is a war that has been going on for eons to keep the universe safe from the Outsiders, who want in. If they succeed in getting past the Gates, everything will stop. It is revealed that Mab's purpose is to fight the Outsiders, and Titania's purpose is to protect the mortal world from Mab. Dresden understands that removing Mab would put Maeve in charge of the war.
