Summary

In Chapter 3," Unjustifiable Death,” Tessa and Sophie dress in training clothes, which include pants and a shirt. Tessa feels uncomfortable, but she sees that these clothes are much more suited for activity. They find Jem in the training room. He assures them that their time training will not be wasted. He points out that, at the very least, it will prepare them to “fend off the unwanted attention of gentlemen” (52). Sophie's first reaction is that Jem is being cruel to call her beautiful, considering the disfiguring scar on her face. Jem does not get a chance to reassure her.
