Summary

In Chapter 18, "Thirty Pieces of Silver,” Mortmain enters with the clockwork people. At one point, one of the clockwork people attacks Tessa, but her necklace flies up, confining the sword and saving Tessa. Sophie is holding Agatha but Thomas pries her away, ordering Jessie to take Sophie and Tessa to the Sanctuary. Mortmain says Tessa has to remain with him. Nate rushes to Mortmain, clearly showing his adoration, calling Mortmain “Magister,” and pledging his devotion. A clockwork man strikes Jessie, sending her flying. Nate is clearly on Mortmain's side. Tessa realizes Thomas is trying to protect Sophie, and Tessa pulls Sohie toward the Sanctuary. They arrive and realize they do not have the key. Sophie goes to get it. Nate arrives and reveals some information to Tessa. He says Mortmain is going to reward him for handing over Tessa. He does not...
