Summary

In Chapter 15, "Foreign Mud,” Sophie helps Tessa inside. Charlotte and Henry enter and Charlotte asks Tessa to recount the events. Tessa does, adding that it might be best if she went to the Magister to stop this fighting. Charlotte says de Quincy has to be stopped before he creates a clockwork army capable of independent thought. Will says Jem wants to talk to Tessa, but Will is clearly angry about it. Jem reveals that he and his parents were tortured by a demon that killed his parents and left Jem addicted to a demon drug. He says he cannot live without the drug and there is not cure for the addiction. He has instructed Will and the others to stop searching for a cure. Jem says he has to take more of the drug when he is fighting and it will eventually kill...
