Summary

Chapter 8, “The Little Saint,” takes place several months after the end of the narrator and R.’s relationship. The narrator has been using the internet to meet other homosexual men and arrange sexual encounters with them. He finds one man’s profile that says that the man wishes to have as many sexual encounters with as many different men as possible. The profile also says that the man prefers to be ‘dominated’ by sexual partners. The narrator contacts the man, and they arrange to meet at the man’s apartment. The man is relatively short, and the narrator nicknames him ‘the little saint.’ In response to the man’s desire to be dominated, the narrator inflicts some light physical pain upon him and takes control of the encounter by giving the man various commands.
