Summary

There is a growing demographic of “relos” – upwardly mobile middle management executives who accept frequent transfers to keep moving up the ladder. Their mid-career salary is around $100K. Most of these relos are white and in their late thirties to mid-forties. New housing developments with homes from between $300K to over a million cater to their needs and even exceed them. They have no roots – their kids don’t have a “hometown” to call their own. The average stay between transfers is two to four years.

In Alpharetta, a favorite community of relos transferred to Georgia, 75% were born outside of the state and the vast majority is white. Two-thirds of the adults have a college degree and the average salary is $100K plus. Republican candidates are supported by the largest percentage of the residents.
