The Los Angeles Institute

The Los Angeles Institute is a Shadowhunters Institute located in Los Angeles, California. It is run and administered by the Blackthorn family. It is attended by the Blackthorn family, including son Julian, and by other Shadowhunters in training such as Emma Carstairs. The Institute comes under attack by Sebastian during the prologue, and Emma and the Blackthorn children flee from the Institute to Idris. Uncle Arthur Blackthorn takes the responsibility of restoring the LA Institute, and for caring for his nieces, nephews, and Emma. As the novel ends, they return to the Los Angeles Institute.
