Simon

Simon Lewis is a sixteen-year-old vampire and the best friend of Clary. He is tall, thin, and incredibly sensitive. Having been turned into a vampire two months before the events of the novel, Simon hates being a vampire. He has been unable to get used to drinking blood and wants to live as normal a life as possible. Simon is dating both Maia and Isabelle, neither of whom knows about the other. Simon does not want to end things with either girl because he is worried about hurting either one. Eventually, they find out about one another and both become angry with Simon. Trying to deny his true vampire nature, Simon ends up starving and mauls Maureen Brown, though she survives the feeding.
