St. Louis, Missouri is located in the Midwest of the United States. St. Louis is well known for the arch, a monument erected in the city. The Missouri river runs through St. Louis and in the case of Circus of the Damned, the river serves as a separation between the territories of Jean-Claude and that of Malcolm and the Church of Eternal Life.

Since vampirism became legal, St. Louis is one of the cities in the U.S. that seems to attract the most vampires. New York also has a large population of vampires but St. Louis has a lower crime rate and the vampires must feel safer among the St. Louis law enforcement than those in New York.
