Summary

Christopher met the children in his new family. Claire was the oldest; Phillip and Lucy were twins. As Claire held him, Christopher scratched to amuse them. Phillip wanted to hold him next, but Lucy was afraid he would bite. Claire told them the proper, gentle way to hold Christopher and explained that white mice did not bite. Christopher worried about how the twins would handle him, but he was fond of Claire. When Phillip picked him up, he squeezed. Claire stopped him; otherwise, Christopher was sure he would have been killed. Claire yelled for him to put the mouse down. Christopher was in a lot of pain, but was okay. Phillip was worried that he had hurt the mouse, so Christopher decided to give Phillip a scare so he would not squeeze him again. He pretended to have leg spasms then went...
