Summary

In Chapter 25, Rowan discovers they will have to swim through the sewers to get inside the Center, the government building where they assume Ash is being held. Lark assures her the water will be reasonably clear after the pass through the upper layers. They have state-of-the-art wet suits that will adhere to their bodies, closing every possible gap so they are sealed off. Rowan cannot swim but Lark assures her she will be buoyant so that she just has to paddle in the correct direction. They refuse to let Lark go with them, saying their plan has a better chance with only the two of them. Lachlan dives in and Rowan has no choice but to follow.
