Lester spends a lot of time shooting rats that are near his house. While doing this, he usually pays a visit to the dumpkeeper who lives down the lane. The dumpkeeper had nine daughters. He had failed to keep an eye on them, and because of that they were very undisciplined and "un"-ladylike. Lester feels as though there is always one of them who is pregnant. All of the girls seemed really lazy and very sexual. Lester could not really tell one from the other. As they all began to fall pregnant, their father beat them.
