Chapter 21 Summary - Last Day

When he is back in his pen, and the families are off looking for Fern, Wilbur and Charlotte are alone. Charlotte seems very tired, but she tells Wilbur that after the award, Wilbur's life has been saved. His future is assured. Wilbur reminisces about how he had once thought Charlotte was cruel and bloodthirsty, and they tell each other how important they have become to one another.

Wilbur starts to talk about how nice it will be to get back to the barn, but Charlotte informs him that she will not be returning to the barn. She is dying. Wilbur is devastated, and cries inconsolably. Suddenly he has an idea; he wants Templeton to climb up and get the egg sac so he can take it home. Templeton agrees, after Wilbur.....
