Chapter 14 Summary

Jaggery confronts Charlotte after her climb, ordering her to change back into her dress and stop being a distraction. She stands up to Jaggery, informing him that she is joining the crew. After repeating his order, Jaggery becomes angry and says that Charlotte is to move into the crew's living area. She will be treated the same as a member of the crew and will be referred to as Mister Doyle. As the captain walks out of sight, the crew cheers. The crewmembers accept Charlotte as one of them, and they are patient with her as they teach her how to work on the ship. Soon Charlotte does all the tasks the crew does on a daily basis, including climbing the mainmast. Captain Jaggery pushes the crew even harder, and Charlotte's body gets used to the physical labor.
