Pages 1-50 Summary

Reverend Mother Superior Darwi Odrade and others celebrate the first ghola baby, Miles Teg while Honored Matres are hunting the Sisterhood to extinction. They need Teg's abilities and memories. The sisterhood must abandon some worlds to the Matres. On Junction, Reverend Mother Sabanda dies under questioning; her body is fed to captive Futar humanoids. Teg shows brilliance and studies the Bashars. He is told he is a ghola, which explains why he has memories he cannot yet access. Odrade lectures Teg on the ways of the Sisterhood and their role as stewards of the land. Teg sense the cycle of the sandworms to sandtrout to melange and back again. Teg is admonished not to forget Dune or the house of Atreides.
