Chapter 2 Summary

The mysterious character introduced at the end of Chapter 1 is revealed to be a house elf named Dobby. Dobby has come to warn Harry that he is in grave danger and mustn't return to Hogwarts because, if he does, his life will be at risk. Dobby is in awe of the fact that he is in the presence of Harry Potter, and he is touched by Harry's kindness to him. No one has ever been pleasant to Dobby, and he has never been given any benign attention. When Harry treats Dobby with respect, the house elf is overwhelmed with emotion and exclaims that Harry is one of the greatest wizards ever.
