Chapter 13 Plastic Bubbles Summary

Jim intensifies his effort to befriend Birdie. He takes her horseback riding and tells her he will always be there for Birdie and her mother. They plan a family trip to New York City. Mona accompanies them, although she is afraid of New York. She tells Birdie that there are black gangs in New York that kidnap white girls to sell to porn rings. When Birdie disagrees, Mona insists it is the truth. Outside a museum, Mona and Birdie see a group of black and Puerto Rican teens dancing to rap music.
