Chapter 12 Summary

Present: Elaine goes to a forties type diner. She wonders what became of Josef. She thinks she saw a movie once that could have possibly been directed by him because of the subject matter. The movie portrayed the woman as being crazy because of men not because they could be crazy for other reasons. Josef did not think of women as real. He was not real to Elaine. She is not angry for his film because as far as she's concerned they both used each other for their own purposes.

Elaine meets Jon for a drink at a roof bar of the Park Plaza Hotel. After, they go to Jon's studio. They both know why they are there. They make love for the familiarity and comfort of it. She doesn't think she is being.....
