Chapter 11 Summary

Elaine is dizzy from the wine at lunch as she walks down Queen Street. She walks on a side street that used to be Josef's hangout. She wonders what he was doing with two women fifteen years younger than he was. Elaine thinks of her own daughters and how she would be horrified if she found out they were with a man like him or like Jon. A Middle Eastern woman touches Elaine's arm. Her first thought is Cordelia, but it is not. The woman asks for money to help feed her children. Elaine gives the money to her feeling there is no end to all this neediness.

Flashback: Elaine leaves the Swiss Chalet to go back to school. Elaine tells herself she is in love with both Josef and Jon. She is somewhat.....
