How They Build It

The main theme of the book addresses the methodology utilized to construct the Chutreaux cathedral. The processes of determining to build, designing the structure, and performing the work are all considered. The types of craftsmen that perform each type of work are presented and considered. The key individuals in the process are identified, often by name, and their specialized tasks are considered. Many of the individual steps required are discussed in some detail. Construction designs and techniques are discussed. Even the construction materials used for various building components are noted and discussed. Nearly every drawing in the profusely illustrated book supports this theme as well—the drawings either show craftsmen performing a specialized task with specialized tools, diagrammatically present how specific tasks are accomplished, or illustrate the finished result of a specified process......
