Love

Katniss survived her first games by pretending to be in love with Peeta. Katniss used this supposed love as a strategy against the other tributes and the audience. However, Katniss told Peeta afterward that it was mostly a strategy, not real. This causes some tension between Katniss and Peeta that is finally broken when they decide to be friends. As they struggle together to survive the Victory Tour and later, during their second games, Katniss and Peeta come to rely on one another for emotional support. This causes Katniss some confusion because she believes herself to be in love with Gale, her childhood friend and hunting partner.

As Katniss struggles with her love for two very different boys, she does not struggle with her determination to save her sister, Prim, from a certain death out of love for her. Katniss is fierce in her determination for her sister...
