Part Three: The Cellar of Cellars, Chapters 54-67 Summary

Mr. Smith is in France where he kidnaps a doctor by the name of Abel Sante. At the same time, Soneji is sneaking into Bellevue Hospital in New York City, hoping to get into Thomas's room and kill him. Soneji is able to make it to the patient's room without being noticed thanks to an expert disguise. However, when Soneji reaches the room he finds Cross and Goldman's partner instead of Thomas. Before Cross can react, Soneji throws a bomb into the room and runs. The bomb is a fire bomb of some sort and Cross quickly finds himself on fire. Cross pats out the fire and rushes out of the room, chasing Soneji. Cross briefly loses Soneji when they get to the street, but picks him up again...
