Part Two: Monster Hunt, Chapters 42-53 Summary

Once again, Cross is in New York City. Cross is flown to the city by the FBI and then driven to Goldman's house by the dead detective's partner. Once there, Cross looks at the crime scene. On a desk in the bedroom is a computer. Cross guesses that Soneji used the computer to look up the case files on Shareef Thomas, the man who infected Soneji with AIDS. Cross is required to spend the weekend in the city to continue investigating this case. Cross's children are not happy about the situation, but Christine agrees to come spend the weekend with him. At the same time Soneji is in a bar trying to pick up a lonely woman. Soneji targets several women but finally settles on a lawyer who lives alone.
