Part One: Train Station Murders, Chapters 3-5 Summary

Cross takes his children to school. When he arrives, Cross can see their principal out front, welcoming the children to another day of classes. Cross knows the principal well. Cross and Christine Johnson met during the investigation of a murdered little girl and later Cross worked the murder of Ms. Johnson's husband. That was six months ago. Cross has wanted to ask Christine out for a long time and has finally gotten her to agree to a date that very night.
