Summary

After Mrs. J retired, Mr. Raymond Quipley took over as the director of the Public Relations department at the Port Authority. Chapter eleven starts out with Pauline working for the P.A., shortly after Mrs. J. retired. She did not get along with Mr. Quipley. In fact, many of the women did not like Mr. Quipley and the office never felt the same without Mrs. J. He demoted Pauline from reception to filing and there was a constant battle between them. He perhaps resented her for the favoritism that Pauline received from Mrs. J, but in any case, he eventually became one of the reasons Pauline decided to quit. Maggie went on to explain that many of the girls who worked under Mrs. J, left during the time Mr. Quipley took over.
