Chapters 21-24 Summary

In chapter 21, Brennan returns home and discovers that his mother has found the skull in his bedroom closet. Brennan's mother tells him she has called the police and reported the skull and that his taking it from the canyon is a federal crime. Brennan grabs the skull as the police pull up out front and runs.

In chapter 22, Brennan runs toward the canyon where he found the skull. Brennan stopped on the way out of town and got water and granola bars, but they quickly run out. Brennan wants to stop for the night, but a voice in his head tells him to keep going. In fact, the voice tells Brennan how he can walk in the darkness and avoid the danger of snakes using a stick.
