Summary

Immediately after Harry’s death, Steve confronts Raza with his suspicions that Raza in fact helped coordinate Harry’s assassination. Raza secretly flees the contractor’s camp, knowing that his hunt for Abdullah – who is, after all, a former Afghanistan military member – has made him appear suspicious. Meantime in New York City, Hiroko meets Abdullah in a public library, and she is pleasantly surprised by Abdullah’s peaceful nature, which she notes is in contrast to Raza’s character. Raza hitchhikes his way to the large Afghani city of Kandahar, where he has arranged a meeting with one of Abdullah’s brothers, Ismail. At that time Raza realizes that Steve will be expecting him to return to his childhood home in Pakistan, and concludes that it will be best for him to sneak his way to Canada instead.
