Chapters 51-53 Summary

In chapter 51, Padma calls to Richard and tries to draw his beast while he drinks Richard's blood. Richard fights and Anita again steps in, concentrating the power of the triumvirate when she touches Richard. Padma gets angry and grabs Anita to call her beast. Anita is not a shapeshifter, but the power of Padma calls to Raina. Anita can feel Raina struggling to break free and she pushes the power into Padma, almost breaking him. Padma is terrified, and Anita calls on his Hindu religion, wondering what he will do to live so as not to pay for his sins. Padma sacrifices Liv the vampire and his son Fernando to Anita. Fernando rages, but his father will not even look at him, sorrowful yet satisfied that he will live.
