Chapters 36-40 Summary

In chapter 36, Anita goes to the hospital to see to the leopards. Lorraine had saved the life of a police officer when a man had attacked, and she had killed him. The police are leery, specifically Detective Padgett. Padgett is a psychic, though he does not advertise it. Lycanthopes, or shapeshifters, make him uncomfortable. Anita convinces Padgett to let Lorraine go, as she had not committed a crime. In the hospital room Anita meets with the group as well as Stephen and Nathaniel. Stephen is able to leave the hospital, but Nathaniel cannot be moved yet. The leopard suggests that Anita can heal him by giving her blood, the others tell her that Raina had healed them with sex. Anita is appalled and refuses. Nathaniel seems heartbroken. Anita agrees to try skin to skin contact, as Kevin tells her that Raina...
