Chapters 31-35 Summary

In chapter 31 Anita's friend Ronnie arrives with her boyfriend Louie, a wererat. The two of them have been out of town and Anita tells them to go inside so she can update them. Anita goes to her room to get a change of clothes and argues with Richard once again. In the kitchen Anita finds Jamil telling Ronnie and Louie about the events. Louie tells Anita that if she can help Richard with embracing his beast that she should continue to see him. Richard enters and continues to be antagonistic toward Anita. The two argue to the point that Anita winds up in tears, hurt by the cutting remarks that Richard makes.

In chapter 32 the doorbell rings when a man arrives with flowers, purportedly from Jean Claude. Flowers are not unusual but Anita knows something is wrong when she sees yellow...
