Chapter 10 Summary

Bud wasted time entertaining himself by jumping in and out of Flint by toddling back and forth over the borderline, before getting bored. He realized he had a long way to walk yet to make it to his destination of Grand Rapids. A man who appeared to be some sort of "soldier" stopped his car and whistled at him. Bud worried this man was here to cause harm.

This guy gave him a hard time for not being from around there and walking at 2:30 a.m. Once the offering of "red pop and bologna sandwich" is given Bud softens up and sees this man will help him. Bud becomes suspicious about his comment of needing "help with [a] problem," however. He is always suspicious of adults that say they need help, because he knows.....
