Chapter 4 Summary

Odd is relieved to find his visitor is the Mother Superior (Sister Angela). Odd tells her about the bodachs, and the possible reason for their appearance. She guesses that something will happen to the children, but Odd assures her that might not be the case. He asks her about the other spiritual pilgrim, a Russian named Rodion Romanovich. Odd leaves, still trying to figure out why the bodachs have come.

Chapter 4 Analysis

Odd is surprised by Sister Angela and finds himself telling her the real reason he is up so late. He tells her about the bodachs and about where he saw them. He also tells her that they are harbingers of disaster as a rule. Sister Angela wants a plan, but Odd has no ideas yet as to what might happen. He wonders about the Russian who has a suite in the guest house as well. ...
