Chapter 22 Summary

Daniel decides to go to the festival and tries to convince Leah to accompany him, but she will not even consider it. At the festival he sees Thacia, perhaps more beautiful than ever before, and thinks she is looking for some boy, who has become special to her. When she finally sees Daniel, he is just turning to leave, and she rushes up to him. She thanks him for coming but he says he will tell Leah how beautifully she dances. Thacia is hurt that he only came to tell Leah about the festival, and asks him pointedly if he does not see her as more than a girl. Admitting that he does, he goes on to explain that he cannot offer her anything due to his spoken vow. With that Thacia tells.....
