Section 15: Book 3, Chapters 38 & 39 Summary

In Chapter 38: Power, Chelsea, Jane, and Alec try to penetrate Bella's shield, but they are unable to do so. Bella knows she can do this and asks Zafrina to guard her while Edward kills Demetri. As their side begins divvying up opponents, Aro interrupts to say there is no need for violence, regardless of their decision, and the Volturi would be glad to welcome Edward, Bella, Benjamin, Kate and Zafrina into their ranks. Caius votes to kill Renesmee, and Marcus votes for peace. Before Aro can cast the deciding vote, Edward exclaims in triumph that Bella does not understand.
